We present a patient in whom an uncemented porous-coated acetabular cup underwent early catastrophic failure due to debonding and was successfully managed with a revision total hip arthroplasty. Early bead shedding of an acetabular cup leading to a sudden component failure requiring revision surgery is a rare event. (Hip International 2009; 19: 392-5)
